Startup brasileira leva informação atualizada para profissionais da área de saúde

Uma healthtech de ferramentas e conteúdo para médicos fundada em 2012 por três médicos da Universidade Federal Fluminense, no Rio de Janeiro, vem preenchendo com sucesso a lacuna de informações do setor de saúde no Brasil. A PebMed, já conhecida no meio como o “Google” para médicos, disponibiliza conteúdo atualizado por assinatura para profissionais da área de saúde por meio de seu principal aplicativo, o Whitebook, e por um portal de notícias.

“Vimos que havia uma necessidade de informação confiável para auxiliar na decisão médica, sobretudo entre os profissionais no início de carreira”, diz Lagoeiro, hoje CEO da empresa. Bruno Lagoeiro é um dos cofundadores da PebMed, ao lado de Eduardo Cardoso de Moura e Pedro Gemal Lanzieri. “Acima de tudo, queremos elevar a rotina dos médicos para um patamar de mais segurança, praticidade e qualidade na tomada de decisão.” Revela Lagoreiro sobre a missão do negócio.

Como nasceu a startup

Os três universitários da UFF perceberam que muitos colegas, iniciantes na profissão de médico, levavam livros para consulta no atendimento aos pacientes. O objetivo era checar informações e tirar dúvidas na hora de recomendar remédios ou tratamentos. Eduardo, inclusive, era bastante requisitado pelos colegas de turma por fazer resumos dos conteúdos das aulas.

A partir da identificação dessas necessidades, os três sócios decidiram digitalizar esse material em aplicativos e passaram a produzir conteúdo especializado. A iniciativa virou um negócio de verdade quando eles terminaram o curso de medicina, em 2012.

O aplicativo Whitebook

O Whitebook, principal produto da PebMed, reune informações sobre protocolos de procedimentos médicos, alertas e indicações de remédios, em mais de 8 mil tópicos de todas as especialidades médicas. O App, que conta com mais de 300 mil usuários cadastrados, tem conteúdo organizado com curadoria de dezenas de médicos.

O nome Whitebook remete à antiga prática dos médicos e residentes levarem, no bolso do jaleco, um caderninho de anotações. “A ideia é que esse produto substitua as folhas de papel pela tecnologia mobile e seja um guia que auxilia o médico nos próximos passos. Nosso sonho é que ele seja tão importante para o médico quanto o estetoscópio”, diz o fundador da empresa.

As atualizações constantes trazem informações objetivas baseadas em bibliografias nacionais e internacionais, tanto para diagnóstico quanto para tratamento das doenças. As informações condensadas no aplicativo ajudam os médicos a tomar decisões imediatas, principalmente nos atendimentos em salas de emergências.

Outro diferencial do Whitebook é que seu conteúdo, todo em português, é voltado para o regionalismo brasileiro, com olhar específico para a prática da medicina local. Embora o maior número de usuários do app esteja no Brasil, a startup já atua no mercado internacinal com clientes em países como Bolívia, Paraguai, Argentina e Angola.

Para ter acesso a todas as funcionalidades do aplicativo Whitebook os clientes pagam uma assintaura mensal de pouco mais de R$ 45.

O portal PebMed

O outro produto de destaque da empresa é o portal PebMed, com conteúdo voltado a profissionais da área de saúde que reúne papers, estudos científicos e novas diretrizes em especialidades médicas para manter médicos, enfermeiros e outros profissionais de saúde atualizados. Esse material também é publicado com a colaboração de médicos, com o apoio da curadoria interna.

Entre as editorias constam categorias como “Especialidades”, com abas para 36 área da medicina; “Enfermagem”, com temas relevantes para enfermeiros; “Coronavírus”, com atualizações sobre a doença Covid-19 e a pandemia; “Blog do aplicativo Whitebook”; e “Fórum médico PebMed”, nova categoria que permite discutir casos e trocar experiências.
